More about the Wild Clay Retreat
In this 4 day intensive course you will identify, collect, process, build and fire local clays whilst diving deep into ceramics theory and learning how to apply this newfound knowledge to any location on earth.
Throughout the weekend you will put the theory into practice, visit local clay sites, build a wood fired kiln and carefully tend to the flames as they transform your pieces from water soluble clay into functional pieces for you to take home and enjoy.
By Sunday you will be able to recreate the process at home, aided by a detailed guide outlining the entire course and new friendships forged around the fire.
To deliver our unique wild clay retreats, we have teamed up with Tierra de Arcillas, a ceramics workshop located at the foot of the Alpujarra Almeriense.
Julia and Milena collect, process and convert local soil into unique clay bodies that reflect the story and identity of their region. Merging modern design and techniques with age old wisdom they bring to life the history and tradition in contemporary homeware.
You will be sharing the Terrace Room at the guesthouse on the Las Mecías farm with one other guest. All meals will be provided by Laura and Nina; former chefs with over 15 years of combined restaurant and hospitality experience. All ingredients are sourced locally or grown directly on the farm and each menu reflects the natural transition of the seasons.
